If you are one of those people that needs to start saving more money and you are on a tight budget for now, you need to take into consideration as to what you can save money on and what you might be paying too much for.
Pay your credit card bills on time. This is a big one for most people. Even if you only have one or two cards, not paying your bills means that you are being charged fees or interest rates.
Cook at home more. If you ever really sat down and figured out costs for eating out versus eating that same meal at home, you would be surprised at how much money you could save even if you just cut down eating out by once a week.
Use public transportation more. Taking your bicycle or riding the bus or train is less expensive than taking your car. The gas prices now will gouge your bank account.
Eat before you go grocery shopping. It’s a proven fact that when people go grocery shopping when they are hungry, they spend more. Eat first and then go food shopping to save some extra money!
Make your own coffee. You might not realize it but if you take a look at the past month of receipts from places like Starbucks, you will realize that you spent over $100 in one month on coffee.
Use coupons. If you have ever watched any of those crazy coupon shows that have been popping up everywhere, you know that a couple coupons can go a long way.
Create a budget. Make sure you sit down with yourself or your partner or spouse and make a daily, weekly and monthly budget on what to spend on food, clothing, entertainment items etc. If you take the time to make a plan, make sure you stick to it.
Grow what you can. If you have a green thumb, growing your own vegetables and herbs is a great way to save some money.
Lower in home utilities. Dress warmer in the winter to not use so much heat, dress cooler in the summer to not use so much AC and more importantly, always remember to turn off the lights when you leave a room.
